It's finally happened

We have bought a car and it's sitting in Adelaide waiting for us. It's a 1970 Valiant Regal 2 door coupe, with a 245 Hemi (4.1 litre straight 6 cylinder motor) 2 barrel carb, automatic trans with Bench seats to seat 6 passengers (So I can convince my wife it's a family car).

This car is a classic and not only kept in original condition, but also well maintained. The previous owner obviously loves these old dears as much as I do! The only things that are non-original are a period aftermarket air conditioning unit that still blows cold and an aftermarket radio-cassette.

Starting on 2nd of July I will start to drive it up to Cairns, visiting my friends (and some people we are yet to meet) along the way. At this stage the route will be Adelaide, Loxton, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Gunnedah, Roma, Blackwater, Emerald, Charters Towers, Burdekin, Townsville, Innisfail. So if you see me on the road, give us a wave!

Well I've been farewelled from work and been presented the card and the present. The Card has a sound chip in it and does a lovely Arnie "Don't come back" voice. The Present was a Canon Camcorder (MV800i) so i'll be able to take movies and pictures (with the old Concord EYE2040 digistill camera) and post them when I can. It seems a little odd after 13 years with the same company to be 1. leaving, 2. Immigrating, 3. Doing a 4200km road trip, 4. Not having a job to go to at the other end. On the other hand 13 years is one third of my 39 year life!

Dinner at home with mum tonight, I suggest Lambs Brains would be a lovely pecial treat for an entree, but my two boys faces indicated that we may not get them...
